Audiobook Update

How would You describe Autism? Professionals who see Autism in a Clinical setting have a wealth of insights, analysis and acumen. Families with loved ones who are on the Spectrum may have yet different perspectives based on daily experience. There is certainly much mystery, and yet much wonder as well. Autism perhaps holds the key to understanding some of the fundamental questions regarding human potential.

One commonality though between Mental Health Professionals, and Caregiving Family members is that many are on the outside looking in. Ironically, in Jude Morrow's case, he was on the inside looking out. Jude has Asperger's, and through his story he is able to provide something which many of us are intensely curious about - what it's like on the INSIDE.

Those not living with the condition may witness what Jude calls a 'meltdown', and perhaps we feel a little powerless to help. How can we, when we are unable to understand what our loved one is experiencing though they may by unable to tell us?

Jude is in the unique position of being able to articulate these episodes and bring his professional experience as a Social Worker into the conversation as well. Due to this he is able to provide these expressions in a framework which is a road map of his progress. Where is now, is definitely NOT where he was.

I am not a mental health professional. All I have done is provide the Narration for the book. I will admit that I highly relate to many of the experiences in the book. That being said, this article is simply my opinion, informed by what I have been able to glean from Jude's story.

If we endure on a personal level, or assist in a professional capacity, this book is a must read. It might sound like shameless self -interest to say that, but I truly believe that this story has the potential to provide some comfort and hope. At the very least it provides a rare perspective. Through my efforts to reach you on LinkedIn I hope that you may be able to provide relief to someone you love. If just one person can benefit, then this has been effort well spent.

I had not originally intended to write any type of article to promote the book, yet after seeing some of the responses posted by readers I thought the effort may be worthwhile.

5.0 out of 5 starsA congruent tale of life on the Spectrum and it’s journey to parenthood ~ 5*23 May 2019 Format: PaperbackVerified Purchase

As a practicing Psychotherapist to those on the spectrum (and mother of two ASD boys) this book was a great purchase from a professional and personal angle. BUY IT . 4 days I read it from back to front and went on a emotional journey with Jude & Ethan

From being non-verbal to accomplishing the gift that is, learning self awareness! Being who you are, not what you are “supposed” to be. The path to parenthood is a terrifying aspect for the majority of us. Jude’s analytical approach to life steers him in various directions to find his path to becoming the best dad he can be.

I found an honest and heartfelt account of his sensory processing difficulties, how it feels and just how exhausting it can be to mask what’s inside to fit in to a world that can change unexpectedly. But with the power of a fantastic family support network and acceptance of self, anything’s possible!!

Great read for Professionals, Parents to those on the Spectrum and other members of the ASD Community.

5.0 out of 5 starsGreat book, very useful for parents of autistic children 23 May 2019Format: Kindle EditionVerified Purchase

Great book. My five year old is on the autistic spectrum and it really helped me to understand how he views the world.

I cried (happy tears) when I finished it because I could see a positive future for him, rather than a constant struggle. We'll done jude for acknowledging the negatives but putting a positive spin on it

I loved this book , its laid out in a way that is so easy to read , as a mum of two Autistic kids this book was a wealth of knowledge for me , it was both thought provoking and informative , i wish i had of had this book when my kids were younger , reading about Autism from an Autistic persons perspective is a real eye opener , there where things described clearly and precisely in the book that i never would have thought about before as a parent , it highlighted to me how Autistic people can view the world around us , the strengths of an Autistic person and how daily life effects them ,all the things we take for granted i would highly recommend the book to anyone who wants to educate themselves on Autism, be a child or a parent , excellent read and fantastic value for money

Absolutely loved reading this book. As a parent of a child with autism it has helped me understand the condition better through the eyes of an autistic adult.

I have no doubt this book will help increase autism awareness and inform the reader of the everyday struggles an individual with autism may face.

You are a total inspiration Jude and a true champion!

5.0 out of 5 starsA must read !! 12 June 2019 Format: Kindle EditionVerified Purchase

Thank you Jude for sharing your beautifully written story with us all. It was a very heartwarming and honest account of how you navigated you way through the trials and tribulations of life with the added difficulties of being on the spectrum. Through your eyes I was able to get a better understanding of the challenges you faced daily growing from boy to man/father and how you managed these and overcame them at each hurdle. From a little boy so confused by a world he didn't seem to fit in to a very self aware and accepting man happy in his own unique skin. Well done Jude for taking off your mask and allowing us to know the real you and accepting Asperger's as the part of you that makes you -YOU! It clearly has not limited you and your published novel is testimony to all those with ASD also that they can achieve whatever their goals and dreams are in life! You are a great role model and advocate for all those on the spectrum and we need more people like you with the courage to talk/write about autism and breakdown those stereotypical beliefs society have that people with this cannot function 'normally' in the world! What even is 'normal'??? An inspirational book from an inspirational man ( a Derry man I might just add! homegrown and talented)! I highly recommend this one for your' must read' list.
